Not so good news

Ben had his surgery finally on Monday. He went in at noon, they finally took him back at around 4, they wheeled him out around 6, and we finally got out of the darn hospital about 8:30! Dr. McGuire (the Dr. who took off the lump in the first place) did the surgery, and he came out and told me that he had taken out a big piece, sure he had gotten all of it, and they did the path on it and it was still not all out, so he said he took an extra centimeter all around, but couldn't take anymore without doing a skin graft, so he sewed him up and they sent the path to Greenville where they were going to do some more advanced testing on it.
Ben saw Dr. Crews today and she said the more detailed path report still shows that they have not gotten it all, it went a lot deeper than they thought, so she wanted him to have a second opinion and is setting him up an appointment with the Lymphoma specialist at Duke next week. This kind of lymphoma is very rare, I hope that at Duke we can get some clear answers. It has been hard to hear this news. Ben said he feels like he's been kicked in the stomach! I feel just sick about it too. We do feel reassured that he will be seeing the best thats out there, as Duke does have a very good reputation.
